Remembering Steve Ryker

Vice President of Compliance and Risk

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Ryker, our esteemed VP of Risk & Compliance, on April 3rd, 2023, due to natural causes. Steve was a highly respected figure in the security community, with a career spanning various roles in the banking industry, including both community and national banks.

Steve joined Cook Solutions Group after a 20-year tenure at Wells Fargo Bank Corporate Security, where he retired as Senior Vice President and Security Director. His extensive experience encompassed security technology, cybersecurity program development, incident response, critical incident communications, executive protection, workplace violence response and prevention, contact center management, and policy development. At CSG, Steve assisted our clients with compliance and risk assessments, policy assessments, risk modeling program development, and financial institution security consultation. He was a Certified Protection Professional and Board Certified in Security Management.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Steve brought a sense of calm and logic to the CSG team. His wisdom and innovative thinking inspired new ideas and programs that have been instrumental in guiding CSG through growth and expansion. Steve was the "glue" that kept our leadership team focused and aligned. An avid outdoorsman, Steve enjoyed hiking, biking, and fishing. He often took 2-3 mile walks during the workday, and many colleagues joined him on these strolls.

Steve was a devoted father who deeply loved his daughter, Lauren. Their close relationship was a source of great pride and joy for Steve. His love for her was evident in the way he prioritized and cherished their time together.

In addition, Steve was a mentor to our technology team, generously sharing his knowledge and experience to help guide and develop their skills. His dedication to fostering growth in others was a testament to his character and his passion for the security field.
