I wanted to take a moment to share a quick update from our CSG-sponsored Unlimit-Aid trip to Guatemala this past November.
We traveled with a group of 16 teens and a few parents coming from three different states, which meant the journey itself was an adventure before we ever landed. Flights were canceled, delayed, connections were tight, luggage tried to go its own way—but somehow, every challenge became a reminder of why we do this together. Through some incredible miracles, all but 4 of the group were able to make it to Guatemala that night.
One of the most meaningful moments of the trip was celebrating two of our students, Enzo and Natalia, who both graduated this past year. Being able to celebrate with their friends and our group was one of those moments that stays with you and reminds you why we do what we do. These two have been through some of the toughest experiences, but they found ways to stay focused and finish their High School diplomas. Their stories are living proof that access to education, paired with faith and mentorship, changes trajectories.
We also spent time interviewing prospective students and are excited to share that we’ll be onboarding six new students into the program for the 2026 school year. In Guatemala their school year is from January to October. I’m excited to welcome these kids to the program who are currently struggling with a wide range of gang influence, broken homes, and a clouded vision of what life should be for them. Going forward, they will have a chance to see being seen and supported while given hope of a different life ahead.
On a more personal note—my dad joined us on this trip for the very first time. It meant a lot to have him there, even if he decided to make it memorable in his own way. A ladder slipped, a fall happened, and thankfully, a toilet broke his fall before anything else did. Massive bruise, 1 out of budget toilet needing to be replaced, no broken bones, no hospital visit—but definitely a story that will live on in Unlimit-Aid history.
As we look ahead, I want to extend an open invitation: if you’ve ever considered joining us on a future trip, we’d love to have you. We like to bring teens that are 15+ who are interested in experiencing life outside of the United States and getting to know a new culture and some potential future pen pals. Our next trip is planned for November, and there is something incredibly powerful about seeing this work firsthand, meeting the students, serving side by side, and witnessing what your support is building.
