What is an ITM (Interactive Teller Machine)?

An ITM (Interactive Teller Machine) is a self-service kiosk that combines ATM functionality with live, two-way video and audio — connecting customers with a remote teller who can assist with transactions that go beyond what a standard ATM can handle.

At a basic level, an ITM looks and functions like an ATM for routine transactions: cash withdrawals, deposits, balance inquiries. What distinguishes an ITM is the ability to initiate a live video session with a teller at a centralized virtual teller center. Through that connection, the remote teller can assist with more complex transactions — loan payments, account inquiries, document exchange — that would otherwise require a branch visit with a human teller.

For community financial institutions, ITMs represent one of the most significant tools available for expanding service reach without the cost of full branch build-outs. A single virtual teller center can support ITMs at multiple locations simultaneously, extending effective branch hours and geographic coverage at a fraction of the cost of staffing physical locations. CSG handles ITM implementation, deployment, Vidyo video platform support, and ongoing managed services.
