How secure is the Piko VMS platform?
Piko uses fully encrypted, outbound-only communication — meaning the system initiates all connections outward and exposes no open inbound ports. This architecture significantly reduces the attack surface compared to traditional VMS platforms that require open inbound network ports to function.
Traditional video management systems typically require inbound firewall ports to be opened so remote users can access camera feeds. Open inbound ports are a well-documented attack vector — they are actively scanned by automated tools looking for vulnerabilities, and a misconfigured or unpatched VMS is a common entry point for network intrusions. Piko's outbound-only architecture eliminates this exposure by design: there are no open inbound ports to exploit.
Additional security features include end-to-end encryption of all video streams and data in transit, two-factor authentication for user access, and regular security updates managed through CSG's RemoteView platform.
